The Goldenrod Flute Concerto was originally written as a sonata for flute and piano as part of a
commissioning project for Carol Wincenc's 50th Golden Anniversary Concert Series. In the spirit of
celebrating Carol's prolific career as a flutist, artist, collaborator, and commissioner of new music, I
chose the theme of gold as a connective thread for the entire work.
For the occasion of the 2023 National Flute Association Convention, the Goldenrod Sonata has
been newly orchestrated into the Goldenrod Flute Concerto.
